Presentation of Talk Business-Online® Courses

If you have a broad band connection, Macromedia Flash and Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer, you can take these Courses. See the section below, Computer Requirements, if you need more information.

Talk Business-Online® courses are interactive, online, real-time courses that were created in Macromedia Flash. Each course, if taken all at once in its entirety, runs from several hours to several days, depending upon the course. Each course is divided into multiple sections to allow individuals who are unable to take the course all at once, to instead be able to take it over a period of time. The number of sections per course is dependent upon the total length of the course, but each section, on average, is approximately 15-30 minutes in length. Along with the sections, handouts are available to help one better learn the information provided. The way the sections are constructed, you can choose to skip a section, repeat a section, and go backwards or forwards. But, to best benefit from the course, you should proceed methodically, step-by-step, through the recommended sequence of course material as constructed by La Rita Mason for all of the courses.

Some of the courses will require an individual to do course work independently. Instructions on how to do the course work are provided in the courses in which it is required, and it is the responsibility of the individual to complete all of this work on their own, due to there not being any real-time, interactive support for it.

The courses all have a uniform design. The courses use streaming audio with visual aides such as diagrams, charts, graphics, and pictures. The courses have a majority of the auditorially presented materials transcribed, so that those with hearing difficulties or those not having American English as their native language may better learn the presented material. A sample from the Courses is provided so that one can experience how the courses are presented. It can be viewed by clicking here or by going to the “Sample of Course” link under the Courses Menu.

Access to Talk Business-Online® Courses

Once an individual has purchased a Talk Business-Online® course, they will be able to login and access the course for a minimum 30-day period. If multiple courses are bought at one purchase, a longer access time will be arranged for the package. During this period, the individual will be able to take the course as many times as desired and can even review certain sections of the course in case one wants to refresh oneself on material and information already covered. During this period, he must remember to download the handouts if the student wants them for future reference after the time allotted for the completion of the course has expired.

Computer Requirements

The Talk Business-Online® courses have very minimal computer requirements. Since the course files were created in Macromedia Flash, it is required that an individual have Macromedia Flash installed on their computer. Flash is a free web browser plug-in that can be downloaded by clicking here.

Handout materials have been constructed in Adobe Acrobat (PDF format). Acrobat can be download for free here at the Adobe website.

Courses must be taken online while logged into the Talk Business-Online® website. The courses require a broadband Internet connection (DSL, Cable, Ethernet). You cannot connect through a telephone dialup connection and utilize these courses. To determine if you have a broadband Internet connection click here.
